Dr Gabriela Eppel completed a PhD in the Department of Biochemistry, Monash University. Gabriela's PhD project investigated the renal filtration and reabsorption of albumin in health and disease, and also the limitations of techniques used to measure urinary albumin excretion. In 2001, Gabriela commenced working as a Post-doctoral Research Officer in the Department of Physiology. Her research here has focussed on the control of renal medullary blood flow, which plays a significant role in the long-term control of blood pressure, and in the development of hypertension. One of her main interests is in the influence of the renal nerves on medullary blood flow.
