Dean’s Rural List

Applicants to the medicine course may apply to be considered for a place in the course via the Dean's Rural List (DRL). 'Rural areas' in this instance means rural areas in Australia only.

Information will be made available to all timely VTAC applicants to the medicine course setting out the eligibility requirements for the DRL.

To be eligible, the applicant must have resided (according to principal home address) for at least 5 years of the previous 12 years in Australian areas classified as RRMA 3-7. (RRMA: Rural Remote and Metropolitan Area Classification - Partial listing of Rural and Remote areas 3 -7 ). Generally, applicants living outside of Australian cities with populations of over 100,000 are likely to be eligible. Applicants on the DRL will be considered for disadvantage, especially focused on their place of schooling and duration of their living in the rural area (defined as RRMA 3-7).

The Faculty will determine the eligibility of all applicants from the information provided by applicants in the online application form.  Applications must be submitted by 7 November 2008.

Applicants on the DRL will be eligible for special consideration, especially related to the location of their schooling and the duration of their living in an Australian rural area (as defined RRMA 3-7).

If you apply for the Dean's Rural list and are deemed eligible, you will be required to submit a Statutory Declaration form confirming the details you have submitted. This Statutory Declaration form will be sent to you prior to your interview so that you can sign it and return it when you attend your interview.
