Student clubsMonash University Medical Undergraduates' Society (MUMUS)All medical students are eligible for free membership of MUMUS. MUMUS aims to foster the interests of students enrolled in medicine, and cater for their social needs. The MUMUS committee comprises students elected from each year of the medical course. Representatives liaise with academic staff and members of the faculty, as well as representatives from other medical and health science schools. Throughout the year, the MUMUS committee organises events including orientation activities, an annual ball, inter-year sporting challenges and barbecues. MUMUS committee also includes junior and senior international officers who represent and advocate for international issues. MUMUS website http://mumus.med.monash.edu.au/ IgniteIgnite is a student-run initiative aiming to inspire, empower and network people to take an informed approach into advancing health standards globally. The group partners with other global health groups through the Global Health Network, a committee of the Australian Medical Students Association (AMSA|). Ignite's primary objectives are to raise awareness of global health issues, to support and foster young people's passion to create sustainable global health improvments and to provide avenues for practical involvement in communities with major health needs in Australia and abroad. The group also runs a number of educational and social events throughout the year. Ignite website http://www.ignitehealth.org.au/ Monash Rural Health ClubWILDFIRE, the Monash Rural Health Club, was established in 1993 to encourage and support both rural and urban origin students who have an interest in rural health and rural practice. In recent years WILDFIRE has grown from a purely medical club to also encompass allied health students. Currently its membership is made up of approximately 400 medical, biomedical, nutrition, pharmacy, psychology and nursing students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The co-ordination of WILDFIRE is overseen by a committee of students chosen by the student body. Members are able to participate in numerous activities including educational seminars, clinical skills days, rural ambulance and GP placements, international health evenings, dinners with informative guest speakers and social events and have the opportunity to attend rural health conferences. WILDFIRE has close ties with the School of Rural Health, with the club's headquarters located within the School's Clayton campus office: Building 13A Room A113A.
