Summary

This is a collaborative research effort with the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria and plans to follow-up fatal and non-fatal episodes of coronary heart disease within the 40000 participants of the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study. The aims are to characterise determinants of coronary risk in a contemporary Australian population and to quanitfy it in risk prediction equations. These will be used to model coronary heart disease in Australia, providing the basis for determining the best available preventive strategies.
